Canyons of Osumi river are formed in limestone rocks and their disticive feature is that unlike the other canyons they are located along the geological structure. They are distinguished for their vertical steep slopes and irregular forms of the river valley bottom. In these canyons are practiced water sports such as rowing or kayaking and some special ponds are suitable even as beaches such as Varishta beach. Gradeci canyons is undoubtedly the most beautiful and spectacular canyon on the valley of Osum river. It has a length of  km and is quite narrow from place to place reaching to the 1.5 km width. Its height reaches up to 40 meters with slopes falling straight to the river. This canyon is the largest canyon of Albania and one of the most fantastic in Europe, acoording to the comments of European researchers that have visited it. This canyon represents also an original ecosystem with Mediterranean vegetation covering its slopes and various fish species growing in the river. Some special rock forms are formed on the slopes of both riversides, which are among the rarest in the Albanian canyons.
